Welcome to the online home of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
We are a family-integrated congregation committed to living every moment consciously and joyously before the face of God, glorifying and enjoying the One in whom we live and move and have our being.
We believe that Scripture alone is our ultimate authority in all of faith and life, and we subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Larger and Shorter Catechisms as our subordinate authority of what Scripture teaches. In summary, we believe the following.
· Our greatest privilege and highest calling in life is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
· The Bible is the perfect Word of God, our ultimate authority in faith and practice.
· There is one true God, eternally existing in three Persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
· The Father created and sustains all things, for in Him we live and move and have our being.
· All persons are born sinners and unable to save themselves, justly deserving the eternal wrath of God for both their sinful nature and their sinful deeds.
· Jesus Christ is the sure and perfect Savior of all those the Father has chosen to trust Him alone for their salvation.
· The Holy Spirit equips and empowers every believer to serve God as members of the local church.
· Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are given to the church as signs and seals of the grace of God.
· The church is to be salt and light in the world, seeking to advance God’s kingdom in all things.
· Jesus Christ will return to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.
Our greatest privilege and highest calling is to gather together as one body and worship our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Each Lord’s Day God renews our relationship with Him and each other as we prayerfully and faithfully hear His Word and receive the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. The following theses provide an overview of our understanding and practice of worship.
· Worship is the privilege of every believer, the source and summit of our life as Christians.
· Regulated by the Bible, we worship in spirit and in truth – according to God’s Word and covenant.
· Our worship is liturgical. As such, it is the work of all the people and not just that of the pastor.
· The pastor wears a robe in worship to symbolize the righteousness of Christ’s people and to deemphasize his individuality as a minister so that Christ may be the focus.
· Recognizing significant evangelical feast days, our worship celebrates the life of Christ as the central event of all history.
· Our worship has five essential elements: Call, Cleansing, Consecration, Communion, and Commission.
· After we are assembled and called to worship, we confess our sins and God assures us of forgiveness.
· God consecrates us as Scripture is read and taught; we respond with our offerings and prayers.
· We commune with Jesus as we joyfully partake of the bread and wine with grateful hearts.
· At the conclusion of worship God blesses us and sends us into the world to love and serve Him as agents of His transforming grace.
